Much is written about affiliate marketing and how to do it. There is no shortage of opinions or self-appointed ‘Gurus’ of the craft. Many over-priced ebooks claim to provide the ‘secrets’ to easy online riches. Most practitioners of it do not perceive the overnight success model as valid.

Many new affiliates, keen to achieve early success and excited by the marketing hype, will buy the affiliate marketing guide of the moment. The guide, of which there are hundreds, offers its ‘foolproof scheme’, ‘guaranteed’ to work. However the scheme rarely, if ever, delivers. The reasons for this vary but usually relate to the guide presenting an over-simplistic model and failure to provide adequate guidance as to how to overcome everyday obstacles.

So how should the new affiliate proceed if self-help guides are often inadequate? Well, very often a change of mind set is needed. With all those ‘Gurus’ telling you how easy it is, it’s natural to believe that all you need is the right ‘key’ and you will unlock an online fortune.

Like any skilled endeavor, to succeed in affiliate marketing, you have to put some effort into learning the facts. You cannot avoid educating yourself. To this knowledge you must add some experience and a lot of perseverance. It’s obvious, of course, but the vast majority of affiliates fail because they do not take account of the fact that if you want to achieve anything in life, you have to work at it.
